A Camping We Will Go!

So we decided to go for it! Go camping that is! We got brave and took our little man Wyatt up to Mt. Hood National Forest and gave him his first camping experience! Since we were not sure how Wyatt would take to sleeping in the tent we chose to go camping on a Sunday night when most people are heading home. It was a good choice on our part because we were the only campers on our side of the campground. We went to a cute little campground called Lost Creek near Ramona Falls. Shortly after we arrived and set up camp we took Wyatt on a short hike around the nature trail that runs along the creek. He was so relaxed out in the fresh air that he took 2 good naps that afternoon. He spent the rest of his time lounging in the pack and play watching the swaying trees and reading his books. He also enjoyed the campfire that Papa built and crawling around in our new family sized tent! (It's so big compared to our old tent) Wyatt enjoyed sleeping in his very own version of a sleeping bag, his bunting made by Great Auntie Gail, and then later sharing Mama and Papa's sleeping bags to stay warm. It was a cold morning and after getting bundled up we sat by a morning fire and ate some breakfast. After packing up camp we headed out for another short hike up the Sandy River and caught a glimpse of Mt Hood and then headed home. While we have some kinks to work out in our camping routine we thought it was a pretty good first camping trip for our little guy!

My Very Own Pool

About a week and a half ago, Grandma C. bought Wyatt a pool of his very own. Since Andy and I don't have a yard to keep it in, we decided that having it at Grandma and Grandpa's was the best. Last weekend we thought that it was time to let the little man go for a dip in his pool. Since we were in the comfort of the private back yard, and Little Swimmers cost a fortune, Wyatt went sans swimsuit! It took him a few minutes to warm up but then he got into it and splashed around and tried to grab the little sea creatures off the bottom of the pool! He can't wait to go swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's again soon!

Bonk!

Wyatt is a cruising machine! He is also trying very hard to pull himself up on furniture, which Daddy and I are not quite ready for. He has managed to pull himself to a standing position on some low boxes but can't quite reach the top of shelves and the coffee table. He tries hard though and thus his first, of many, head bonks! Yesterday he was reaching for the top of the coffee table and lost his balance on his remaining 3 limbs and even though Mommy was watching this all unfold, she couldn't get to him quite fast enough. He fell forward and hit his forehead on the edge of the coffee table! He cried for a few minutes, but then he was as happy as could be and went right back to playing!

First Trip to the Zoo!!!

A couple of weeks ago our good friend Stacy was visiting us from California and she brought the sunshine with her. So we thought it would be a great time for our first trip to the zoo! Grandma and Grandpa Cook bought us a zoo pass for our anniversary which allows us to bring a guest. So it worked out perfectly. We saw many animals; some of Wyatt's favorites were the elephants, black bears, the lions, and the monkeys. He was not too fond of the polar bear cave or the stinky penguin cave:) He was tuckered out from all the animal sight seeing and took a snooze while the adults ate! Overall, it was a fun first trip to the Oregon Zoo!

Wyatt goes Pro

Wyatt decided that for mommy's birthday (June 20th) he wanted to have professional pictures taken and frame his favorite one for her. At six months old he had not sat under the bright lights and been staged for photos, but he handled the pressure well. Here are a few that were taken that day...
